Klotok tours offer opportunities for wildlife observation, where passengers might see orangutans, proboscis monkeys, and various bird species, guided by knowledgeable local experts. Visitors usually travel along the Sekonyer River in traditional Indonesian boats called klotoks. These boats provide access to Tanjung Puting National Park’s diverse environments, appealing to those interested in wildlife watching and jungle trekking.

This center is one of the best places to see and interact with orangutans in their natural habitat. Other notable locations nearby include Camp Leakey and Pondok Tanggui.

Tanjung Harapan is on the Sekonyer River, across from the village of the same name. This village was created after local people were moved to help with conservation efforts in the national park.

The camp’s main focus is to feed and rehabilitate orangutans that have been orphaned or displaced because of habitat loss. Although it no longer rehabilitates orphaned orangutans, it plays a key role in educating visitors about conservation issues.

Visitors can join guided tours to watch orangutans being fed, learn about their behavior, and understand the conservation challenges they face. Feeding times are usually from 3 PM to 5 PM, allowing guests to see many orangutans, including mothers with their young.
