How to Get to the Temple at Sunrise
Borobudur Temple is usually opened to the public at 6 a.m. It’s still quite early in the morning. However, 6 a.m. is too late to start your Borobudur sunrise tour and you can’t enter the complex of the temple earlier. The only official way to enjoy the sunrise from Borobudur Temple by joining a tour arranged by Manohara Hotels. The sunrise tour will be started at 4.30 am and it costs $31 or 400,000 IDR. For a more practical option, you can choose to stay in the Manohara Hotel. However, by staying in the hotel, it doesn’t mean that you will automatically participate in the tour. You can still join the sunrise tour even though you are not staying in the hotel. All you need to do is reserve the sunrise entrance in advance to allow you to enter the temple complex earlier. However, you need to make sure to arrange your transport so that you will come to the temple at the tour’s start time.
