ITINERARY
Day 1: Merapi Lava Tour Jeep Tour
- Pick up from the Yogyakarta area (Airport)
Our team will pick you up right from Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) or from wherever your location is in Yogyakarta.
- Visit Sultan Palace
For the first stop, you will be taken to visit Keraton Yogyakarta. It is a fabulous traditional palace where Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, the king of Yogyakarta, and his family live. Here, you will enjoy the amazing Javanese traditional architecture that you can find in every corner of the palace built in 1755.
- Visit Senobudoyo Museum
Located just a stone’s throw from Keraton Yogyakarta, Senobudoyo Museum is the next place that is worth a visit. From geologic to historic, there will be many types of collections that you can see in the museum.
- Lunch local restaurant
Enjoy a delicious Javanese traditional cuisine for lunch at a local restaurant.
- Drive to the Merapi site
Right after lunch, our driver will take you to the Merapi Site, a popular tourist spot located on the slope of the Merapi volcano.
- Change to 4WD Jeep
For the next itinerary, you will take a 4WD jeep for a more comfortable ride and better views.
- Merapi Lava Tour activity
On an off-road jeep for 3 to 5 passengers, you will take a route to go around the Merapi site. Here, you can visit places like Museum SisaHartaku. This is a museum specially dedicated to informing and educating people about the massive Merapi eruption that occurred in 2010. The disaster has taken the lives of many people living in the villages around the volcano.
During the lava tour, you will pass through some villages affected by the Merapi eruption. Some other places you can visit during the tour include Alien Stone and Bunker (many people were found dead in the bunker during the Merapi eruption in 2006). Outside the bunker, there is a viewpoint where you can see the beautiful scenery of Mount Merapi. It is a great spot since the bunker is located less than 10 km from the mountain.
- Drive back to the hotel
At the end of the first day of the tour, our driver will take you back to your hotel for some good rest before starting another tour on the next day.
Day 2: Borobudur – Prambanan Temple
- Breakfast at hotel
Start your second day of the tour by having a nice breakfast at your hotel. Don’t forget to eat well since you will need all your energy to explore the magnificent Borobudur Temple.
- Drive to Borobudur Temple
From your hotel in Yogyakarta, our driver will take you to Borobudur Temple in Magelang District, Central Java in a comfy and full AC car.
- Exploring Borobudur Temple (due to the new regulation from the government, we are unable to see the whole temple only the terrace level)
Built by the Syailendra Dynasty (the main Buddhist dynasty that promoted Mahayana) in the 7th century, Borobudur Temple reflects the glorious era of Buddhism in Indonesia. The Syailendra Dynasty that ruled ancient Java had connections to many countries in the world, including India where Buddhism was born. For more than 1000 years, Borobudur Temple has stood firmly, passing the test of time. This magnificent temple is also the largest Buddhist temple in the world.
- Visit Pawon Temple
Located in Borobudur Village, Pawon Temple is our next destination. It is an interesting temple located just between 2 other temples, Borobudur and Mendut. Surrounded by plants and trees, the temple has a very peaceful nuance. Relatively smaller if compared to Borobudur Temple, Pawon features amazing ornaments and carvings. It is a Buddhist temple that combined Hinduism and ancient Javanese architecture.
- See Coffee Luwak Processing
Don’t miss the chance to witness the coffee Luwak processing on the tour. Here, you can also get the taste of Luwak coffee, one of the most expensive coffee products in the world.
- VW Tour Borobudur (Volkswagen Tour around Borobudur village)
We’ll continue the tour by taking a Volkswagen to go around the beautiful Borobudur village.
- Cycling Tour (optional/ own expenses)
If you prefer, you can also take a cycling tour to enjoy the breathtaking view of Borobudur village. However, it is optional and should be at your own expense.
- Drop off service
End the second day of the tour and our driver will take you back safely to your hotel.
